Commitment to environmental protection
The very finest chocolate truffles are not our sole concern. Protection of the environment is also a key area of focus at Wiebold. By introducing the use of liquid chocolate in 2010 we are protecting the environment in two ways at one and the same time. On the one hand the melting of block chocolate has been phased out, on the other no redundant packaging material needs to be disposed of any more. In addition, we strongly emphasized excellent insulation when purchasing the tank, ultimately choosing to have the tank walls designed 50% thicker than the standard gauge used. This helps achieve significant energy savings.
Through the conversion of our operating machinery from integrated to external cooling, heat dissipation in the air-conditioned production areas is reduced, resulting in significantly lower energy consumption for cooling these parts of our plant.
Energy is a valuable commodity. Too precious just to be wasted. That is why we are committed to demand-based energy consumption. In many places plant lighting is controlled by motion detectors. In addition, equipment and pumps with very high energy consumption have been replaced with equipment featuring demand-controlled consumption.
The transport of raw materials and products represents a very negative effect on the environment. All the more reason not to stand by without taking action. Wiebold uses many raw materials from the nearby region such as cream and butter. Freight consolidation with logistics partners helps avoid half-empty truck runs. Cooperation with partners from across the logistics sector helps us optimize our supply chains to a greater and greater degree, which protects the environment.
